Filters are a great way to make sure you are only being alerted to jobs that you are actually interested in. Most substitute teachers have personal preferences for certain grade levels, subjects, schools, etc... Because of this, we strongly suggest adding filters to your settings page so that you are only alerted to jobs that you want to accept.
To add Filters:
Login to Sub Sidekick and click the Settings page. Then click on the Filters tab. Here you can choose if you want half-day jobs and full day jobs, or only full-day jobs. You can also add keywords for the types of jobs that you DO NOT want to be notified for OR choose to only be alerted for jobs that DO contain certain keywords. Keywords could include certain types of schools, certain subjects, grade levels, or even specific school names. A few examples are below:
*Don't alert me when a job description contains any of the keywords below:
-Highschool
-Science
-Physical Education
-Main Street Middle School
-Music
-Teaching Assistant
OR
*Only alert me when a job description contains one of the keywords below:
-Elementary
-Math
-Special Education
-Montgomery Middle School

Managing Text Volume:
If you would prefer to see all jobs instead, that is certainly possible as your subscription does cover a large amount of texts per month - within reason. However, if your texts exceed a certain amount, you will be asked to add filters to your settings, since an extremely high volume of texts does cost us more than the subscription fee. Below is a detailed explanation of what amount of texts will signal a notification from us:
Notifications:
1) First, if you receive approximately 20 texts in one day, you will receive a message from us suggesting you add filters, just in case you are receiving alerts for some jobs you are not interested in.
2) Next, if you receive 40 texts per day on average for the month (approximately 1,200/month), you will be asked to add filters to your settings, since that amount of texts does cost us more than the subscription fee.
3) Finally, after you’ve been asked to add filters, if you still reach a rolling average of 40 texts per day for 2 months, the system will automatically stop sending text messages to you. You will still be able to receive email alerts but your phone number will be removed from the system.
Again, we want to send users as many alerts as possible, but for cost purposes, we do have to put a maximum on text messages, just as cell phone companies do. We also feel filters will only improve your experience with us and help tailor your alerts to jobs you want to accept.
